Abstract

The growth of silicon oxide nanowires through a sandwich-like configuration i.e., Ga ball/Si polyhedrons/silicon oxide nanowires by using Ga as the catalyst and SiO powder as the source material was demonstrated. The substrate was transfered into a scanning electron microscope (SEM) for imaging. SEM image showed highly aligned and closely packed rodlike structures.
