Abstract

This discussion presents the derivations, approximations, and solution to one possible application of Linear Discontinuous (LD) Finite Element Methods (FEMs) on a general geometry discrete ordinates transport problem. The Linear Discontinuous Slice Balance Approach (LD-SBA) coefficients are derived through the application of a set of approximations to describe the slice-averaged spatial flux moments in terms of the incoming and outgoing spatial flux moments. A test problem for comparison to accepted one-dimensional LD results is also presented.
