Abstract

The near-term SMRs are implementing a variety of integral pressurized water reactor (iPWR) designs. However, the principle iPWR reactor coolant system components are typically identical in function to similar components in larger LWRs, but the size and, more significantly, the location of many of these components has been modified. This chapter discusses individual components associated with the integral reactor coolant system and external systems and components connected to the reactor coolant system. Key differences from current PWR designs along with PWR design commonalities are highlighted throughout the chapter.
