Japanese society for neutron science holds first meeting

Abstract

From December 6–7, 2001, the Japanese Society for Neutron Science (JSNS), which was newly established in April 2001, held its first annual meeting in Sendai, Japan. Sendai, where Tohoku University is located and also one of the world's early pulsed neutron sources, is one of the centers of neutron research in Japan and was host to the meeting. A total 2 17 participants, including 213 out of 510 active members, gathered for two days from all over Japan. The chairman was Yasuo Yamaguchi (IMR, Tohoku University) and the organizing committee consisted mostly of the staff and students of Tohoku University.
