Abstract

The phonon band structure and the T-dependent behavior of some optical phonons in La_0.7Ca_0.3MnO₃ were studied. One of the JT stretching phonons along the Mn-O-Mn binding directions exhibited anomalous damping as the temperature approaches T_C and collapses above T_C.
