Abstract

The phonon band structure and the T-dependent behavior of some optical phonons in La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 were studied. One of the JT stretching phonons along the Mn-O-Mn binding directions exhibited anomalous damping as the temperature approaches TC and collapses above TC.
