Abstract

The path to truly effective use of time in analytic discourse contain several challenging obstacles. Present analytical tools are insufficient to satisfy the temporal reasoning needs of analysts. Uncertainty and ambiguity representation standards for temporal data are also nonexistent. The exploitation of the time dimension is expected to decrease by the virtual representation of time, so the visualization community should adopt and promote standards for visual presentation of these time phases. There is need for analysts to work with time in an unhindered manner, common analytical activities such as evidence chaining, hypothesis testing, and scenario testing also depend upon the definite use of time, and various breakthroughs are expected in many application areas.
