Abstract

This paper presents a biometric identification system by means of iris recognition, making special emphasis in an efficient but also simple design, and describing in depth all the employed algorithms, especially those used for image processing. Our system is based on iris isolation, Gabor filters coding and feature extraction thus being simple and functional. In fact, the experimental results, based on 715 iris images, show that false acceptance rate (FAR) is only 0.7191%, and false reject rate (FRR) 3.5121%.
