Abstract
It is shown, that the form of a low-frequency ("boson") peak in Raman scattering is universal for glasses of different chemical composition and melts. It is also shown that the form of the peak is determined by the structural correlation function which describes the character of violations of ordered arrangement of atoms within several coordination spheres in non-crystalline solids.
