Abstract
Improvements in the capability to locate and to determine the behavior of micro-bubbles in turbulent flows will entail enhancement of the bubbly flow modeling in Nuclear Power plants. In this paper micro-bubbles distribution has been measured by means of SPIV and PIV and the hydrodynamics effects of the distribution have been obtained in the boundary layer of a turbulent flow. This experiment included the establishment of different measurement stations downstream in order to obtain the bubble distribution at different Reynolds numbers. The bubbles were produced by means of an electrolysis process and average 30 μm diameter was observed in the bubbles. Experimental gas flow rate production was obtained for both the oxygen and hydrogen bubbles. The results show the capability to inject micro-bubbles at specific locations of the boundary layer with a reasonable accuracy, which can be used to achieve drag reduction.
