Abstract

The influence of coherent Stokes and anti-Stokes Raman scattering on coherent population trapping was investigated. An electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and electromagnetically induced absorption (EIA) were observed in an experiment conducted using atomic sodium vapor cell. The peak or dip of induced resonance was found to be depending on the side of the optical transition where the electromagnetic fields are tuned. The results show that this dominant process influences the coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering or coherent Stokes Raman scattering.
