Abstract

• Market attractiveness of industrial HPs depends on electric to natural gas price ratio and application lift temperature • Many case studies & demonstration projects - mostly in EU and Japan • Numerous industrial HP products and technologies (>100°C, >100 kW to MW capacity) - mostly in EU and Japan) • Heat pump integration varies from case to case; tailored engineering • High research activity worldwide (DE, AT, CH, FR, NO, NL, JP, KR, and CN) • Refrigerants trend towards natural: butane, pentane, CO2, H2O, ammonia and synthetic HFOs / HCFOs with low GWP, like R1336mzz(Z), R1233zd(E), R1224yd(Z).
