title = "In situ neutron diffraction studies of non-thermal effects in materials during microwave irradiation",
abstract = "We have developed an apparatus to perform in situ X-ray or neutron diffraction experiments on materials during microwave irradiation, and thus monitor structural transformation and also probe temperature in a phase-specific manner through determination of the cell parameters. Here we report work on the transition from orthorhombic (ferroelectric) phase to tetragonal (paraelectric) of KNbO3 under conventional and microwave heating to determine whether there is any significant difference. We also report experiments on supported catalysts to explore the possibility of significant temperature gradients between the catalyst particles with a high dielectric susceptibility and an alumina support with a low dielectric susceptibility.",
