Abstract

This paper bridges experimental and modeling activities to produce an informed analysis of FeCrAl clad UO2 fuel pins. Specifically, in-pile creep and swelling results, complemented by out-of-pile thermal creep tests, are analyzed to initiate reliable material property correlations. This information is incorporated within a 3D fuel performance analysis tool (BISON) to predict the integral fuel pin behavior. The analysis results are then used to target and engineer the most optimized cladding for this application.
