Abstract

Radioactive decay and other time factors have important effects on eventual high level waste (HLW) disposal, but also on other critical decisions regarding nuclear waste accumulation. Potential methods for improving proliferation resistance, advanced used nuclear fuel (UNF) component recycle, reduction of radioactive emissions, and geologic emplacement of HLW can be positively affected by time factors. Also, time effects may be significant factors for ensuring the sustainability of nuclear energy.
