Abstract

A Ru25+ compound having two crystallographically independent molecules that differ only in that one molecule has an additional hydrogen bond shows Ru-Ru distances that vary by ca. 0.07 Å at 30 K; as the temperature is raised, one molecule displays a spin transition but the other one remains in the same spin state, as indicated by variable temperature magnetic and structural data.
