Abstract
A study was performed on high-confinement edge stability of Alcator C-mod plasmas. The predicted stability boundary of the modes as a function of pedestal current and pressure gradient was reproduced. The results showed that the measured dependence of the edge localized modes (ELM) threshold and amplitude on plasma triangularity is consistent with results of ideal magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) analysis.
