Abstract

This paper tries to characterize the spray of gasolineethanol blends using schlieren imaging technique and image processing. Five different gasoline-ethanol fuel blend rates by volume are prepared. The Image of the spray is captured using schlieren imaging technique and image processing is employed to extract macro spray characteristics- spray tip penetration and spray cone angle. Based on the extracted tip penetration and cone angles E55 gasoline-ethanol blend found out to have the largest cone angle and tip penetration among the tested blends.
