Abstract
The formation and dissolution of a Carbon dioxide hydrate composite for ocean carbon sequestration were investigated. Raman spectroscopic studies were conducted to determine the presence the different CO 2 phases in the composite. A mechanistic model for hydrate dissolution was developed in which solid hydrate is constantly formed on the liquid CO 2-hydrate interface and hydrate is dissolved on the hydrate-water side. On dissolution, the composite was observed to shrink at a rate of 10 -6.
