Abstract

Most studies on photovoltaic (PV) harmonics focus on simulation-based analyses or small-scale rooftop PV systems in controlled environments. Research using real-world data from large-scale PV power plants is limited, with most studies emphasizing transient current analysis and neglecting voltage behavior. To address this gap, this paper analyzes Point-on-Wave voltage (POWV) data from utility-scale PV plants. The high-speed Universal Grid Analyzer (UGA) devices is used to capture real-world data, and a 24-hour analysis of voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) and characteristic harmonics is performed during summer operation. This work highlights significant fluctuations in the 5th harmonic, especially at night, a phenomenon not widely documented in prior research.
