Fiber-Optic Sensors for Strain Measurement in a Spallation Neutron Target

Abstract

A fiber-optic strain sensor has been developed based on a low-coherence interferometer and an all-fiber phase-shifted demodulator. The sensor has been applied to the measurement of megahertz dynamic strains in a high-radiation spallation neutron target.
