Abstract

The modification of fiber preform preparation routes for the fabrication of high performance RS-SiC/SiC composites, which associated with the combination of pressurized slurry impregnation with various filler particles and magnitudes of cold pressures, have been investigated. The characterization of RS-SiC/SiC composites was studied by means of SEM with EDS and three point bending test. The consecutive slurry infiltration process of low imprregnation pressure and cold press used for the preparation of fiber preform is effective for the densification of RS-SiC/SiC composites. There was also an appropriate magnitude of cold pressure capable of maximizing the density and the strength properties of RS-SiC/SiC composites.
