Abstract

HPCMP CREATE™-AV Kestrel is used to evaluate RANS solutions for two 3D benchmark configurations provided by theNASALangleyResearch Center Turbulence ModelingResource. These include turbulent flow over a smooth body of revolution – a hemisphere-cylinder – at various angles of attack as well as turbulent flow over a transonic ONERA M6 wing at a single angle of attack. Computed solutions are compared to experimental data and to reference CFD solutions available on the Turbulence Modeling Resource.

Funding

Material presented in this paper is a product of the Air Vehicles element of the U.S. Department of Defense HPCMP CREATE™ Program. The authors would like to thank the HPCMP for the many hours of computing time that are so critical for the successful development and validation of Kestrel. The CREATE™-AV dedicated support partition on Lightning (AFRL DSRC) proved particularly valuable for this effort.
