Abstract
In recent years, various modeling efforts have been undertaken to design and plan buildings for increasing local renewable energy production. To this end, advanced generative models have been developed to explore various urban forms that may provide better access to renewables. However, current approaches have failed to adequately evaluate the effectiveness of a design from a local energy network performance and a collective energy efficiency perspective. An auto-decoder model has been developed to generate planning envelopes, and configurations are evaluated based on integrated local energy networks. The optimal form is identified, which maximizes collective energy efficiency at the neighborhood level.
