Abstract

In the original article,1 we proposed that paramagnetic surface relaxation was not the dominant T1,2 relaxation mechanism in polyisobutene (Brookfield viscosity standard) or heavy crude oils (including Athabasca bitumen). Instead, the NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) measurements and MD (molecular dynamics) simulations suggested that the ubiquitous 1H-1H dipole-dipole relaxation dominated T1,2 at high viscosities.
