Abstract

The artificial nonlinear optical material consisting of a one-dimensional metal-dielectric photonic crystal is discussed. The propagation of light through bulk material can be altered in photonic-crystal media. The transmission within the transmission band can be large due to the resonant nature of the braggs reflection. The result show that the wavelength of the maximum enhancement is determined by the separation between the metal layers.
