Abstract

A technique for the determination of continuous cooling transformation diagrams (CCT) has been developed and tested. A minicomputer (Apple, IBM, etc. ), A/D and D/A interface boards, and a GTAW power supply have been combined for this relatively simple technique whose power is the ability to produce a CCT diagram without expensive specimen preparation (no machining) or elaborate equipment (no Gleeble machine). A complete CCT diagram can be generated in a few hours and 1040 steel is presented here as an example.
