Abstract

An electrochemical synthetic method and characterization of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) nanotubes in the polycarbonate (PC) membrane were analyzed. The well-defined nanotubular structure provided fast electrochemical response in the highly flexible substrate. The key controlled variables in nanotube synthesis were applied potential, monomer concentration and electropolymerization time. The switching rate was improved 30-50 times by using the PEDOT nanotube structure as compared to the thin film of PEDOT in the flexible electrochromic device.
