Effect of thermal variations on the Knudsen forces in the transitional regime

Abstract

Knudsen forces were studied and shown to have a nearly linear dependence on the relative changes in temperature at the cantilever level when the experiment was conducted in the transitional regime. In this mode, Knudsen forces were found to be significant and, thus, become a problem in different devices based on microcantilevers.
