Abstract
The effects of intense pulsed ion beams (IPIB) irradiation with three kinds of power densities on the phase state, mechanical property and oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys have been studied by means of X-ray diffraction, microhardness and oxidation mass measurement, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectrum. It is found that the hardness of surface layer of the irradiated IC-6 alloys is not increased. But the phase state and oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys greatly depend on the power density of IPIB. With the suitable power density of IPIB, the deformation texture and amorphous Y phase can be produced, which results in the improvement of oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys. When exposed to high power density IPIB, the oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys is decreased.
