Abstract
The effects of intense pulsed ion beams (IPIB) irradiation with three kinds of power densities on the phase state, mechanical property and oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys have been studied by means of X-ray diffraction, microhardness and oxidation mass measurement, scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectrum. It is found that the hardness of surface layer of the irradiated IC-6 alloys is not increased. But the phase state and oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys greatly depend on the power density of IPIB. With the suitable power density of IPIB, the deformation texture and amorphous γ' phase can be produced, which results in the improvement of oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys. When exposed to high power density IPIB, the oxidation resistance of IC-6 alloys is decreased.
