Abstract
The production of a poloidal electric field to reversed field pinch (RFP) in which the dynamo was essentially absent was discussed. It was observed that the edge-applied electric field accommodates Ohm's law balance without a dynamo term over the entire cross section by measuring plasma resistivity, current density and electric field profiles. The characterization of the nearly free plasma was done by low magnetic fluctuation levels and it was found that the standard plasma have larger magnetic fluctuation level and a strong dynamo effect. Results obtained show that the neoclassical theory accurately predicts the resistivity in RFP, and in the absence of magnetic fluctuations a simple Ohm's law was satisfied in the Madison Symmetric Torus.
