Abstract

The dynamic formation of an internal transport barrier was demonstrated for a DIII-D discharge using the GLF23 model. This was done to predict the evolution of the thermal and toroidal momentum transport while self-consistently computing the effects of shear flow stabilization. The barrier was predicted to form in a stepwise fashion through a series of sudden jumps in the core-electron and ion temperatures and toroidal rotation velocity.
