Abstract

Under conditions simulating an aqueous dissolver off-gas, the extent of co-adsorption of water and iodine on AgZ and MS has been measured. These data will aid in sequencing the off-gas treatment and reducing the cross-contamination of the low level waste with high level iodine waste. The processes can be easily adapted to the dry processing proposed to condition nuclear fuel for long term storage. Further work is needed to develop methods to treat off-gases arising from zirconium recovery operations. Additional details and data will be presented in the full paper.
