Abstract
An analysis of diffusion mechanism of cation-exchange process for fabrication of HgBa2CaCu2O6+δ superconducting films was discussed. A systematic study on conversion of Tl2Ba2CaCu2o8 precursor films to HgBa2Cacu2O6 films was done. Results suggest that the pathway of Hg cations in thin films is to channel through defects across the thickness of films and then diffusion into grains takes place.
