    Abstract

The AGARD 445.6 wing multi-physics test environment was numerically simulated using a coupled computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) approach. Fluid-structural interaction (FSI) simulated wing tip displacements are presented and compared to wind tunnel test results. Full-order and modal CSD models coupled with a high-fidelity Euler CFD solver predict trends analogous to test data. Discrepancies between short- and long-time histories of tip deflections and their corresponding frequency responses are also presented. Computed flutter speed index results were consistent with wind tunnel test for the subsonic conditions at Mach 0.499 and 0.678, low transonic conditions at Mach 0.901 and 0.960, and high transonic conditions at Mach 1.072 and 1.1.
