Abstract
The current status of postirradiation examination of the AFC-3 and AFC-4 irradiation test are presented. Several sets of irradiations tests are currently undergoing exams. A wide variety of alloys and forms are currently being explored with the goal of improving fast reactor fuel performance primarily by the mitigation of swelling and fuel cladding chemical interaction. Baseline examinations have been completed on some tests at this time. Highlight results from visual examination, neutron radiography, gamma spectrometry, dimensional inspection, fission gas release, chemical burnup analysis, and optical microscopy are discussed. Data from examination of these irradiations are compared to historical irradiations and the fuel performance of historical alloys.
