Abstract

It has been brought to our attention by T R J Bollmann (University of Twente) of typographic errors in our recently submitted manuscript that make reading and understanding of the model difficult. On Page 4, the text immediately after equation (2), ‘where k is an integer denoting one of the five possible’ should be modified to read ‘where k is an integer denoting the possible steps that can be taken by the adatom (including the possibility of no step), e.g. five possible in the case of the symmetries available in this case’. Also on page four, there is a typographic error in the second column, last paragraph reading ‘… in this image shows that 34% of adatoms are located on the ESB, and 48% are on the A-termination’, which should in fact be ‘… and 48% are on the B-site termination’. Finally, the units on the x and y-axes in figures 2(a) and (b) and 3(b)–(d) should not be eV as written, but are rather ratios as mentioned in the text. The content of the figures does not change. The new figures are provided below. No conclusions of the manuscript are affected by these changes. We thank T Bollmann for pointing out these errors. This research was in part sponsored by the Division of Materials Sciences and Engineering, BES, DOE (RKV, SVK). Research was conducted at the Center for Nanophase Materials Sciences, which also provided support (APB) and which is a DOE Office of Science User Facility.
