Abstract

Fiber matrix interfaces in continuous fiber reinforced composites have been suspected as the regions of imperfections, high dislocation densities, residual stresses, etc., which affect the material's properties. This paper examines micro-structural features of graphite/aluminum using analytical transmission electron microscopy. Included is the determination of dislocation densities at the interfaces by weak beam imaging technique. Also observed are tangled dislocation networks at the fiber matrix interfaces.
