Abstract

With the objective to prepare electrocatalysts with high efficiency, the Pt-Ru-Mo/MWNT catalysts were prepared by different approaches. Pt-Ru-Mo nanoparticles were deposited onto the surface of MWNT by different methods like the reduction of metal ions by γ-ray irradiation and chemical reduction using NaBH 4 as a reducing agent assisted with microwave irradiation, in order to prepare electrocatalyst for fuel cells. The successful preparation of Pt-Ru-Mo/MWNT catalysts was confirmed via TEM, XRD, and EDAX analysis. The catalytic efficiency of Pt-Ru-Mo/MWNT catalyst prepared was examined for methanol oxidation and CO stripping for use in DMFC, and DMFC performance was also measured in cell voltage and power density verses current density.
