Abstract

Two composites containing different amounts of multi-walled carbon nanotubes were synthesized using liquid-phase polyurea(methylvinyl)silazane as a precursor. The theoretical densities of the composites were calculated according to the rule of mixtures. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observations of the composites did not reveal defects in any of the specimens. It was found that the mechanical properties such as elastic modulus, hardness, and damage resistance were significantly increased by adding 6.4 vol.-% carbon nanotubes.
