Abstract

Induction machine equations, which describe motor current, voltage, and torque as a function of speed and load, were presented and discussed. In addition, equations were developed which described sine wave pulse width modulation (SWPM) inverter conduction and switching power losses as a function of PWM switching frequency and motor load and speed. Lastly, inverter power losses were related to necessary steady-state heat sink thermal resistance and IGBT device junction temperature.
