Abstract
An analysis of an energy efficient building cluster has been undertaken to quantify the effects of individual design concepts on overall energy performance. The energy saving potential of different concepts, such as orientation, windows, air cavities and insulation etc., has been quantified for mixed climatic conditions prevailing in most regions of Central India. It is shown that the specific thermal energy requirement can be reduced from 300 kWh/m2a (Ubuilding = 2.13 W/m2K) for a normally constructed building to 143 kWh/m2 (Ubuilding = 0.96 W/m2K) by using insulation on roof and walls and by employing double glazed windows.
