Abstract

Information are provided in accessing data provided by an automated vision system and monitoring remote sites for a desktop computer by using the Internet. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM) has built a weathercam web site that provides weather-related images and information, including hourly updated radar images for the Burlington region from MSNBC's Intellicast Web site. The mechanics of establishing the Internet camera are described such as hardware and software requirements. Applications of data acquisition over the Internet in industries are also described.
