Abstract

The first observation of bright photoluminescence (PL) corresponding to the inner tubes of double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) prepared by thermal treatment of fullerene- encapsulated nanotubes at temperatures of 1700-2000 8Cis reported (see image). The results suggest that DWNTs could replace single-walled NTs in biomarker and optoelectronics applications due to their strong and stable luminescence properties.
