Abstract

A molecular electronics strategy that makes structures which promote the self-assembly of Photosystem I (PSI) reaction centers into useful circuits is presented. The electrical and optical properties of isolated PSI molecules are measured and bulk devices which incorporate a large number of PSI molecules into an optically-sensitive test structure is produced. The strategies incorporating the PSI molecules into self-assembled circuits that implement useful logical functions are discussed.
