Abstract

A selective Cs⁺ ionophore: a lipophilic isoguanosine nucleoside 1 coordinates to cesium ions to give the complex (1)¹⁰·Cs⁺, in which two hydrogen-bonded pentamers sandwich the Cs⁺ ion (see picture). Evidence from both X-ray and solution studies confirms the above composition.
