Abstract

A selective Cs+ ionophore: a lipophilic isoguanosine nucleoside 1 coordinates to cesium ions to give the complex (1)10·Cs+, in which two hydrogen-bonded pentamers sandwich the Cs+ ion (see picture). Evidence from both X-ray and solution studies confirms the above composition.
