Invited for the cover of this issue is research led by May Nyman at Oregon State University in collaboration with scientists at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA. The cover image depicts the transfer of uranyl peroxide clusters from an aqueous phase to an organic phase in a nuclear power plant cooling tower, showing how the fundamental science of actinides is related to the industrial nuclear fuel cycle.
