Abstract

The topic of this paper is the arc-flash hazard in Wind Power Plants (WPP). A brief introduction of the concept of arc flash is followed by the presentation of a methodology to perform an arc-flash hazard analysis on a WPP collector system. Issues such as faults being fed by multiple sources, as well as the modeling of the fault current of the wind turbine generator are addressed. The paper concludes with two examples using the presented methodology.
